Sri Vaishnava Philosophy
Sriman Narayana is the creater of the Nature and the Jivaathma, also resides as Anthryami / Soul in everything and everyone. Thus everything/everyone is in Him and He is in everything/everyone. Thus the jivas are part of this Supreme God. He grant us moksham/Srivaikundham.
Srimadh Bhagavatham therefore, salutes that Satyam….”Satyam Param Deemahi”. Satyam is in each one of us as the Atma. This Aatma is changeless, it does not undergo any transformation of any kind. It is eternal. It is only our body, which is temporary and which undergoes changes such as Janma, Mrityu, Jara and Vyadhi.
That is the essential teaching of the Bhagavat Geetha, that we are not this body. And this awareness of self, the spritual EGO is the Aatma Gnan one should attain.
While ultimately all the Jivaathma have to surrender the God, this could take many Janmas / births till the Jivas qualify for this merger by keeping his “paapam and punniyam” balanced. If the paapam is more then he Jivas goes to the Hell and if the Punniyam is more Jivas goes to Heaven.
Bakthi yogum is a form which takes us to the lotus feet of Sriman Narayana, still it’s not so easy to follow in this materialistic world. It may take so many years or even jenmas for us to do it in a proper manner as it mentioned in the sasthras. We have to come across so many hurdles since it has self efforts.
But, reaching the lotus feet of Sriman Narayana can be quickened to happen at the end of current life itself, provided we do Prapatti (Saranagati) through an Acharyan and lead a honest life after doing the Prapatti.
Saranagathi can also be performed for various purposes like recovery from ailments, success in life, etc… but the paramount being mokshaa. Life is full of Bliss & Agony we need to surrender everything to him praise him for all the bliss and leave your agony to him with total faith.
Once the soul reaches Sri Vaikunta, the abode of Sriman Narayana, having been freed from the cycle of birth and death, the soul engages in eternal service to Sriman Narayana.
Pancha samaskaram / Samasrayanam
Pancha-Samskaram is prescribed mandatory in the Saastra. It means five purification rituals collectively referred. They are
Taapam means bearing the shanka-chakra marks of heated shanka-chakra seal along with chanting of mantras.
PuNdram means wearing 12 Tiru-maN with Shree-ChUrNam along with chanting of mantras.
Naamam means identifying oneself by the Daasya-nama signifying the Bhagavath-Bhaagavata-Seshatvam.
Mantram means getting the initiation of the three secret mantras like 1)Ashtakshara manthram 2) Dvaya manthram 3) Charama slokam
Ijyaa means getting the upadesam from Aacharya to do the Aaraadhana for Bhagavath-Vigraham or Bhagavath-Saligraama-Vigraham as per the Saastra.
There are no discriminations, anyone/everyone can have this rituals done but Only “Sri Vaishnava Aacharyan” can bless the Sishya with this ritual.
The last verse of the Bhagavat Geetha says ” Sarva Darmaan PariTyajya Maamekam Sharanam Vraja…” , when you have exhausted all other ideas to attain the Lord, you simply leave all the Karmas and Dharmas and come to my Saranagathi, or surrender to me totally, and I will liberate you from all your sins.
This is the total sharanagathi perhaps, the last way of devotion or Bhakthi Marga to come nearer to the God.
After we have surrendered to the Lord through our AchAryA by getting Samasrayanam how to be in the rest of our life?
